“Wonderful Property - Everything you could hope for”

Reviewed 1 Aug 2015

We had a wonderful stay at La Bigarade. We were looking for somewhere to stay local to a wedding we were attending at La Magnanerie de Saint Isidore near Hyeres (beautiful wedding venue incidentally!) and this was a great find. We were 4 adults, 1 toddler and a baby and the accommodation suited us perfectly with 3 good size bedrooms and a full bathroom for each bedroom. There was every possibly amenity you could think of in the house and everything was very comfortable and easy. The pool area is just beautiful with amazing views right out to the coast and while the pool was a little chilly when we were there it was a good size and the stepped entrance was perfect for our 3 year old daughter. The pool alarm also gave us extra peace of mind with little ones around. I would say that one of the best things about the property that even though it was very hot during the day whilst we were there, all the windows had mosquito nets on them so at night you could still have the windows open and due to the location at the top of a hill there was always a welcome breeze and so sleeping at night in the property was very pleasant. The owners Jorgen and Kari were very thorough and helpful prior to our stay and contacted us whilst we were there to ensure that everything was running smoothly. All in all a wonderful stay and we would definitely recommend this property.

“What a beautiful villa, a real home from home”

The villa was easy to find, with such a fantastic setting and extremely private. The kids (and adults) loved the pool area, the views were stunning. The villa was so spacious, the pictures don't do it justice - it's much bigger in real life! The outside BBQ area was brilliant!

“Perfect place for two familyes !”

Two familyes, 4 adults and 6 children, rented this beautiful house in Provance. It was perfect for us - the children sleept in the apartment, and each coupel had a bedroom with bathroom in the main part of the house. The big outdoor pool was a blessing for us all - enough space for a lot of fun ! We also enjoyed the outdoor table and had all our meals there for 12 days !! It has a beautiful view and the house has an undisturbed location. It`s only 5 minutes drive to the grosery store and 20 minutes to the beach.

“Wonderful holidays”

We really enjoyed our stay from mid to end of August, mainly thanks to the location we rented. The house is perfect for relaxing with family and friends, it is very well equiped and very pleasant to live in, and the outside is perfect with the beautiful pool and view. Not sure if we were lucky or if it's always the case, but it was also extremely quiet due to almost no neighbours around (end of Aug, many houses looked empty). Only minor negative aspect is that you always need to take the car to buy food or bread, as the private domain where the house is located doesn't have any shop nor bakery. Quietness has a price! Now, beside the house: We went to the beach in La Londe and it was a real disappointment: dirty water, sand mixed with stones so not pleasant to walk on (both inside or outside the sea), expensive beach chairs... not the greatest place to go if you like going to the beach. Therefore we mainly stayed in the house, enjoying the pool. Bormes is of course worth a visit; again we were lucky that it was end of August so probably less crowded. Needless to say, Jorgen is just the perfect host: reactive, patient, always willing to find a good solution to make your stay pleasant. Compared to some french owners I met in the past, no comparison possible.

“A nice pools and great views”

Reviewed 5 May 2012

La Bigarade is a very pleasant villa with a nice pool and great views. The place is furnished and equipped like a family home so there was everything we needed, including washing machine and dryer, poolside barbecue and a good coffee maker. The property is in a fairly heavily-developed area with a large number of similar villas packed into the surrounding hills, but happily La Bigarade's location allows almost uninterrupted views over the countryside to the sea at Hyères - so once you're in the villa you don't notice the other development. We booked the place on less than 24 hours' notice, and the owner was very helpful in sorting out the paperwork, cleaning and check-in arrangements whilst on the road himself. Minor negatives were that the bathroom basin and kitchen sink fittings are a little tired-looking, and the quality of the bedding (particularly the pillows) isn't really in keeping with the luxury feel of the villa. Overall an excellent place though and I'd definitely stay here again.

“Outstanding family getaway in Provence”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2011

This July our family enjoyed one of the most magnificent weeks ever at La Bigarade. The house is quite simply magnificent: Located on the top of a hillside with the most amazing view of the valley stretching all the way to the Mediterranean. A view which we enjoyed almost all day long, either from the covered and cool outdoor veranda, or from the pool. And speaking of the pool: It is big and much larger than the impression one get from the pictures. The house is newly renovated and everything just WORKS! This is not a 'charming' old and worn-down house in France, rather it is a modern, stylish and luxurious getaway which will work just as brilliantly for couples as for families, even larger ones like ours. The only drawback I feel when writing this review is that I'm afraid it will be more difficult to rent the house in the future. But so be it, the owners are extremely nice and serviceminded and the house is just a pure gem. We have six children, so altogether we were 8, but the house was more than large enough.
