Description

La Roc' Bruyere is an independent two-storey stone house built in the Provencal style and set in a 1900 sq meter garden planted with olive, cherry, apricot trees, lavender and luxuriant pink laurel bushes. The 9x4 m pool has a padded lounge-in-the-water area at the entrance, sunbeds at the poolside, and a pool house with a lounging area, and full shower room with sink and toilet. It is also protected from the mistral winds by a wall. The terrace (also looking onto the pool) is shaded with foliage and has outdoor tables and a barbecue, making it ideal for meals out by the pool. The well-kept garden has plenty of shady spots under the trees. All of this, a mere few hundred yards from the lovely, unspoiled (because, for some lucky, unfathomable reason, it remains relatively unknown) medieval village of St Saturnin-les-Apt.

La Roc' Bruyère is an independent property, and unlike some rentals that started springing out in the area recently, is not part of a large development and therefore completely private, and very quiet. Our neighbors are locals, and our houses are not on top of each other. You'll barely ever hear or see them. Staying at our house, you will be able to enjoy privacy, a lot of peace and quiet, and yet, you'll be a short stroll away from the heart of our village, which boasts some nice restaurants, a small supermarket, butcher, and two boulangeries/pâtisseries.

Saint Sat (as we call it) is located in the heart of the Luberon and a bit of driving (or cycling) will get you to the most beautiful villages in the area: Roussillon, Gordes, Apt, Lacoste, Bonnieux, Isle sur la Sorgue, Saignon, and many more...

Finally, La Roc' Bruyere is the house we bought for our expatriate family to keep some roots in France (and for our children to experience their French heritage), and also, eventually, to spend our retirement years. We take great pride in making it as pretty, warm and welcoming as we can.

Response from the owner Dear guest, thanks again for choosing La Roc' Bruyere for your holidays, and also for the kind words. Allow me to add a few words regarding some of your comments. The temperature of the pool: this past summer was a little cool compared to the "norm" (even if the weather in our area remained pleasant compared to the rest of France), and this means that the water had no real chance of keeping its usual average summer temperature of 24 Degrees Celsius. The water actually often reaches 27/28 degrees. I know, because I really don't like cold water either :) Also, one side of the pool has what is called roman stairs into the water and our very young guests can play there if properly fitted with floating devices, and most importantly, if closely supervised. As for the walk to the village, everyone is different, and we certainly respect that, but our youngest daughter was only 2 when we bought the house and we often walked to the village (and even all the way to the windmills) with the pushchair. We've also had quite a few families with babies or very young children over the years, and this was never reported as being an issue. As you mention, it is a lovely walk with many opportunities for children to pick wild berries or look at the old wind mills in the distance. Again, thank you so much for taking the time to comment.
