Description
Vallat Sableux is a 250 years old vineyard restored in a typical provencal style, and can house until 15 adults and several children. It is the ideal place for families or group of friends wanting to spend their hollidays together.
Located halfway between Nice and Marseille/Aix-en-Provence (1 hours drive) and close to Toulon/St.Tropez, this old stonehouse offers 350 m2 of living space, and a 5.000 m2 garden with many olivetrees, 250 years old mulberry trees and figue-trees. Surrounded by winefields and a litte forrest, this spot is very calm and ideal for families with small children. Our closest neighbour (in walking distance), Chateau Beaumet, has an excellent winecellar open to public. Within 3-4 km you will find bakeries, foodstores, pharmacies, cafés and restaurants, in the little towns of Gonfaron and Le Luc. There is still very little tourism in the area, thus little traffic on the roads, lower pices, and "real" southern french daily-life.
We bought Vallat Sableux some 30 years ago when it still was a total ruin. We have spent a lot of time and money to restore this old vineyard, and today it has 8 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a library, 2 big "allrooms" consisting of kitchen, diningroom and livingroom, both with fireplaces. Our home has been filled with antique and typical provencal furniture, colourful textiles and beautiful pieces of art, giving the house a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The house is surrounded by large terraces offering enough space for larger group for dining, sunbathing, childrens play and reading a book in a quit zone behind the house.
Vallat Sableux is an ideal base when you want to fill the days with different kind of excursions only 10 - 60 minutes drive from the house. Here are some suggestions:
- Children activities, such as the famous Turtle Farm in Gonfaron, Aoubré in the Luc (climping in trees, zoo with farm-animals, butterfly- and herbal plant-garden), The little Train in Brignoles (old railwail trail), Marineland in Biot/Antibes
- Provencal foodmarkets (the best are in Toulon, Aix and Lorgues)
- Vineyards (there are hundreds of them!) - visit their cellars and taste the good quality wine of red, rosé (excellent) and white.
- Horse-riding close to the house, Golf de Barbarroux (one of the best in France), car- and motorcycle races in Le circuit du Var/le Luc.
- the best beaches in France, close to Toulon, Hyères, St.Tropez, le Lavandou, les îles de Porquerolles, Presqu'île de Giens.
- Spectacular mountains Les Gorges de Verdon, also called The Little Canyon, with bathing in Lac the St.Croix.
- Visit of medieval villages and historical towns, and a lot of interesting art museums.
Most of our guests are celebrating at Vallat Sableux their 50, 60, 70 or 80th anniversary. On the celebration day, they have ordred a 3 course dinner, typical provencal, prepared by a local cook, and brought to the house the same evening. Before dinner arrives, the guests have visited the neighbour Chateau Beaumet to taste and pick out wines that match the evenings food.
Vallat Sableux consists of the old part (250 years old) and the new part (100 years old), and can accomodate up to15 adults pluss children. The new part of the house can be rented out separately, for 4 adults/2 couples, to a lower price. You can also rent 1 or several rooms from the old part of the house if you have bigger parties than 4 people. Please contact us for a specific offer.
