Description
Our villa is outstanding for it's quiet and secluded location with magnificent views over the surrounding hills, and yet close to some of the most beautiful hilltop villages in the Var - still unspoilt by tourism. It is for the exclusive use of our visitors and we only accept one booking at a time. 2 years' ago, we added a large spa, and this coming year, we will add a sauna and covered verandah.
The villa itself is a haven of calm both inside and outside, decorated with tasteful provençal style flooring & each bedroom in its own personalised colour scheme, 3 modernised bathrooms with spacious walk-in showers, towel heaters and provençal tiling. The spacious living area, under an oak beamed cathedral-style ceiling, comprises a living room with log burning chimney, and large dining room separated by a low wall from the well-equipped kitchen. Patio doors lead to a wide south facing terrace, recently relaid with high quality stone, and a rose and bamboo covered pergola where a magnificent oak tree provides shady dining in summer with adjacent barbecue and plancha.
Three air-conditioned bedrooms (2 doubles, including king-size and queen-size beds - both with ensuite bathrooms, and a 3rd with 3 single beds and a canapé-bed) each with own patio doors leading out to south and east-facing terraces with tables and loungers - and beyond to the large private swimming pool with Jacuzzi, plus a spa comfortably seating 5 adults. A restored “cabanon” (small stone-built studio) set apart from the house provides additional sleeping accommodation (double bed) and shower, toilet and wash basin (hot & cold running water). There is also a large, shaded patio area with additional seating - an ideal place to listen to nature or watch the children playing.
In the main house, 2 ensuite bathrooms plus a separate shower room with large shower & WC, completes the accommodation.
Satelite TV with DVD (2 screens in different rooms), VHS and hi-fi, Internet service (wifi and broadband - indoors and on the swimming pool terrace), and a range of indoor games, DVDs and books for children and adults. Outdoors, we have been lovingly caring for the forest and gardens, and have installed on the different terraces pétanque, Volleyball, football and ping-pong. There are several outdoor patio areas, and a large outdoor dining area with electric barbecue. There are 2 hamacs in the trees.
Much of your time will probably be spent around the large, heated swimming pool with a good range of loungers, parasols and pool furniture. We also supply a number of pool games. We have recently added a further pergola to this area to provide additional shade in summer.
Fully equipped kitchen with quality provençal tiling, separate utility room includes oven and hob, a second small oven for large family meals, microwave oven, dish-washer, washing machine, large "American" fridge / freezer with ice dispenser, an additional drinks fridge and extremely well equipped in crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils (including bread-maker) + high quality plastic plates & glasses for use around the pool. We plan to add an outdoor "summer kitchen" for 2019 season.

“Absolute solitude”
We loved our two week stay in this very comfortable home, and although initially a little daunted at navigating the narrow 2km road to reach it, we quickly came to appreciate the solitude it offered. It's hard to explain just how peaceful it is here, no noisy scooters, only the occasional car passing.The boys really enjoyed the pool and we all appreciated the air conditioning in the evening. We often heard and sometimes saw wild boar, even some piglets in the garden early one morning. We really enjoyed the pretty walk along the road and up the hill to Claviers, arriving in the pretty square to enjoy a cold drink and watch the locals. We ventured north to the Gorge du Verdon and enjoyed an afternoon swimming in the lake, contrasting with the drive south to the glamour of St Tropez. There is lots to see and do, the villa provided a clean comfortable base to return to. We would love to return one day.

We do hope you will return - we are planning further improvements to the house, with a bigger children's bedroom and play area, additional ensuite bathroom, terraces and a hot spa - particularly for guests coming out of high season.
