There are glorious views from our stylish, modern villa, which looks over the perched medieval village of Claviers, in Provence, to the hills beyond. It is totally private and secluded - no other property overlooks the Provence villa, terrace or pool as we have olive groves to one side and to the rear, a small wood to the other side, and to the front (south and south west) we look down on Claviers with its 900 year old church.

This magnificent villa is a modern villa built using many traditional materials such as ancient oak beams, terracotta tiles, handmade local bathroom tiles from Salernes and antique doors, to mention just a few of the delights of the property. The inside is stunning with large windows and high ceilings allowing plenty of light to bathe the spacious 175 sqm house. It is a villa of great charm and character with all modern conveniences.

Our availability on holiday lettings is always 100% up to date.

TRAVEL DISCOUNTS:

We are pleased to be able to offer all our customers a minimum of 20% off their ferry booking with Brittany Ferries. Once you have placed your booking, please ask Greg for the special discount code. “Peace and charm”

Reviewed 2 Oct 2017

We stayed at this lovely villa for two weeks in September, and found it an ideal place to relax. It has a particularly attractive location, private but not isolated, with wonderful views. We made ou… More

Response from the manager Dear Janet, thank you for your lovely and comprehensive review which really sets the tone and atmosphere of both the villa and our charming part of Provence. We have always used the excellent wi fi in the village bar and cafe but do recognise that guests expectations are changing year on year so we are looking to install the internet at the villa for the 2018 season. Thank you for staying with us. Best wishes, Greg

“A Beautiful Relaxing Experience”

Reviewed 11 Jan 2016

It was an interesting and extensive Villa with a lovely pool and pretty panorama and was ideally situated for a walk to the quaint local village and for visiting Monaco, Cannes, Antibes, St Tropez and Grasse.

“Lives up to its name”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2016

Stayed for a week with my husband and 2 ' children' aged 18 and 22 with a 22 year old university friend of my son's. We all had so much fun. Sitting out having supper on the terrace with the most stunning views of the village in the distance was a highlight of the holiday. Lovely to be just outside the village but easy to walk in. Fabulous daytrips . Too much really to choose to do for a week. You need 2 weeks- ideally next time !

“lovely rustic villa very peacefull, and relaxing the real france.”

we arrived at the villa charmanti after a drive through some lovely scenery the villa was just like you see it on the website very quiet, had everything you needed the views of claviers village is a bonus to see every morning when having your breakfast, having your own pool was a bonus too, inside the villa is very spacious nice comfortable sofas .nice big table to all sit down to breakfast and evening meals and to have a bbq most days and just sit and enjoy the views.my family all had a very relaxing time and to recharge our batteries we will hopefully return in the future.

“Paradise regained”

Reviewed 21 Jul 2015

We've been drawn back again and again to the Villa Charmante because it richly deserves its name. We instantly feel completely at home there. The beauty of the beamed, spacious and elegantly designed interior, and the idyllic, lavender and pine scented terraces that surround it, with their stunning views over the hills of medieval Claviers, always yield new pleasures with the changing light. The housekeeping and pool maintenance are both of the highest standard. And if you can bear to leave the house, there are many picturesque villages nearby to visit as well as the Cote d'Azur and the magnificent canyons of Verdon.

“A week in the sun”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2015

1 week at Villa Charmante was the perfect break amongst 6 weeks of travelling in Europe. The Villa itself is appointed with all we needed to make it our home away from home, Breakfast on the terrace overlooking Claviers was followed by long swims in the pool and day trips to the many local towns of the area. Coastal cities of Monte Carlo, Nice and Cannes and St Tropez are all within reach for day trips.

“Lovely villa and location”

Reviewed 1 Jun 2015

Lovely villa, set in a great location overlooking Claviers. Very well appointed and equipped property. Lovely pool and surrounds allowing for relaxation and privacy. Close to the coast and Grasse, with local markets adding some local colour, to a villa in which you can absorb the peace and tranquillity of rural Provence. Good local restaurant in Claviers which held our attention on most nights All in all a great week despite the cool Mistral blowing - pity it could not have been longer.

“A magical Provencale Villa Retreat”

Reviewed 28 Jan 2014

We so enjoyed our first visit to the Villa Charmante that we could not resist a second stay. This was equally delightful. The villa, an idyllic, terraced, hillside retreat, overlooking the picturesque medieval village of Claviers, continues to live up to its name. It has many rooms, opening from its spacious, half timbered, three-tiered central area, and a rich variety of views of pine-scented mountains to enchant the eye. The standard of maintenance, of house and swimming pool, is impeccable, and there is always a friendly concierge from the village to offer help if needed - including greeting us with food and drink to welcome our arrival (a welcoming gesture typical of Select Cottages). Lavender, olive trees, oleanders, and a choice of terraces make the villa as beautiful outside as in, and its situation between the seaside attractions of the Cote d'Azur and the spectacular mountains and Gorges of Verdun are ideal for us. Both our holidays here have been magical. We cannot recommend this enchanted place too highly.

“We had a fantastic, relaxing week, just what we needed.”

Reviewed 8 Apr 2013

The villa is perfectly positioned - looking over the village on a quiet hillside. There are lovely walks from the door and the village has all you need - a bar, a shop and a nice local restaurant. It was perfect for a really relaxing family holiday - great house, really well equipped and looked after. We had a very mixed bag weather wise and on the cold days, the cosy parlour with wood burning fire was just the job, on the hot days it would have been good to have had the pool to use but we were rather early in the season. We hope to be back to use it !

“Fantastic views in a charming little village in the hills above the Cote d'Azur”

Reviewed 4 Jun 2012

Highlights: Views to die for, charming unspoilt French village located 15 minutes walk from the front door, delicious bakery and Restaurant D'Oliviers in the village, locals extremely friendly and engaging, located amongst fantastic unspoilt countryside with abundant wildlife. Villa generally well appointed, with spacious living areas for children to run around (NB stairs down to kitchen/dining room may not be suitable for toddlers - although a baby gate is provided). Small amount of food and drink provided on arrival - very useful as arrival not before 4pm on Saturday means very few shops open unless shopping carried out on the way to the villa. Very good (cost effective) local rose wine. Lowlights: Pool was very cold at this time of year and not well maintained by the caretaker as promised in the particulars. Details of local attractions in the villa file somewhat out of date. Although the village is small and charming, there is not much to do (particularly for children) - a hire car is essential to reach destinations such as the Verdon Gorge and Marineland (latter well worth a visit with children) - NB if warmer weather had been enjoyed - the pool would negate this problem. Roads to the villa are typically "rural French" and therefore this should be noted when choosing hire vehicle (hairpin bends to the village are the norm). Due to rural location, be aware of "local wildlife" visiting the villa - such as ants and frogs. Summary: We would think twice about the advantage of a pool at this time of year and would delay a visit until it was warm enough for the children to obtain proper use of it. However, this meant we saw a lot of the local attractions and we enjoyed our stay at Villa Charmante immensely. We miss the views even now.

Response from the manager Please note, our our pool is professionally maintained; this particular week was unseasonally cold so the water was checked for quality and pH balance, and all was fine. As the pool had hardly been used there was very little maintenance or cleaning required. The pool is professionally cleaned twice a week in Summer regardless of the weather. There is also a thermal cover for guests to roll on to keep the heat of the day in the pool overnight.
