A very pretty, spacious Villa set in the hills above the Old Town of Cannes. Whilst close to the beach and the fantastic selection of restaurants, bars, shops, markets, park etc, the walk back to the Villa was a little strenuous - it is up a very steep hill. (Uber taxis work great for those who don't fancy the walk).
The Villa is furnished comfortably and artfully with a selection of antique bed frames, pictures, chest of draws, chairs etc - it would not appeal to someone who likes the cleanline modern look but we were very happy and pleased with the more traditional French look and furnishings. Whilst there are plenty of bathrooms, we would have preferred more up to date ones (free standing showers) and there could have been an extra loo upstairs. The kitchen was adequate but a little small, dark and basic when cooking for 10 people. The seating area outside was fantastic and we made good use of the BBQ area.
The pool was lovely - great temperature and was cleaned twice a week. The garden furniture was a little tired and not overly comfortable but I guess by the end of a season.... Some of the shrubbery could perhaps have been cut back to make way for extra furniture/ parasols.
The Villa does not have air-conditioning which actually is not a problem in itself. It was pretty hot for the 3 weeks (August) we were there and with the windows open at night, the temperature was fine, however, we could have done with Mosquito screens at the windows. (I appreciate that Mosquitoes are only a problem at certain times of the year)
Overall, we had an amazing 3 weeks at the Villa. There was plenty of space for our friends, daughter (and her friends) and our very big dog. Whilst we enjoyed our various trips to Mougins, Antibes, St Tropez, the islands and into Cannes itself, it was very relaxing to just sit around the pool and garden. We had some really fun evenings in. A very "sociable" villa.
The owners were charming and very helpful. They responded immediately to the only time we requested something.
