Villa Scooby-Doo (as I assume it is pronounced) was a great spot to spend a few days on the Cote d'Azur enjoying the sun. It's just half an hour (E60 or so in a taxi) from Nice airport. It's on a hill, which gives it lovely, unobstructed views over the sea, and it has its own terrace and pool which on their own would be a delightful spot to hang out for a whole holiday. But it's also a 15-minute stroll down the steps into town, from which you can either visit the beach or get on a train to...well, almost anywhere, it seems, is nearby. Monaco. Italy. Lots of other bits of France. All about half an hour away by train. So we explored a bit, lolled by the pool a a bit...it's all good.

Lets start with the positive, the views from this villa are stunning!
however at some point you have to turn around and go back in, and that is where the joy ends!,
The villa is advertised as "renovated" whilst maintaining its a" original character "?this consisted of a lick of "DIY" paint ! and a tired old mish mash of 70,s tat, (not I might add, lovingly maintained retro ")
and cheap DIY flat pack furniture with a bit of "African " them too boot ??
The air con , is 2 huge!, archaic, units ,
one in each bedroom, that you can hear well before you can see!
they are impossible to be in the same room and have on at the same time ,
and maintain any form of sanity!
you also have the pleasure of empting these units ,on your hands and knees!
at least once a day with your very own home made plastic bottle !
( Blue peter eat your heart out)
there is no other air con" in the house, so at 35 degrees this was charming,
the wonderful housekeeper did take pity on us and bought over 2 fans which were welcomed with open arms by the teenagers!
the bed in our room was a rock hard with a thin mattress, covered with a base sheet and a tired, empty , duvet cover,
(a further sheet arrived on request)
my husband and I are both fit people, but after one night trying to sleeping on this bed we both had very sore limbs ,
in deed my husband had to sleep down stairs, most evenings
this , along with the eclectic mix of the sitting room furnishings and kitchen, led me to telephone the owner the next day and politely ask if we could leave, and pay for the night we had taken and be refunded the rest ,
the reply, through the housekeeper. was only if we forgo the deposit too, on top of the nights stay ,
this made one nights stay a bit steep ,so I asked through the house keeper ,
if we could have our deposit back,
25% of the price, to enable us to leave earlier
the owner then text back to say NO,
and that we had a bargain !
and as a holiday let owner myself I should know that!
as for the "renovation " description", this is right, because it says "maintaining original character"!
and they were on holiday in" Uganda" and would not be contactable again! so enjoy it !!
well!! how very lovely !
ok at 1750 euros( this goes up another 1000 euro in high summer), for the week it was not crazy money,
but we all work hard, and its your holiday at the end of the day, flights have to be paid for too! its not just the "bargain villa"
we spent as much time away as possible so with the average price off 200 euro a day we spent on beach beds lunch drinks ect...( "passible" st jean cap ferrat beach , is the best ") and then dinner out in the evening , it all adds up,
The golden rule off holiday letting is , good beds in all rooms !
sleep on holiday is so important,
up to date air con if provided , preferable one you can be in the same room with!
good linen , good duvets pillows ect .... and a accurate description !
if that does not bother you much then this villa will be great for you
I know there have been some good reviews on this villa ,
however mainly couples and out off season,
if the owner spent some money on the villa it could be great,
I for one, was delighted to hot foot to the "welcome hotel" villefranche , which was sublime!!!

This villa has wonderful views over the Mediterranean Sea, including Cap Ferrat. It is very comfortably furnished and comprehensively equipped with wonderful space for four people. There is a lot to do and see in the area, with easy access to public transport allowing visits to Nice, Monaco and beyond without difficulty. The pool looked very inviting in the sparkling sun. My first time in this part of France and I was very impressed with all aspects.

Scoubidou out of season (early October). The house has been meticulously maintained. At the end of the long rental season you expect some things not to work and a little wear and tear but everything was perfect. Beautiful uninterrupted views across the bay. An idyllic situation, very quiet, but warm (22ªC most days).
The villa itself has two good sized bedrooms each with an excellent adjacent bathroom. The large lounge is very comfortable, although we spent most of our time outside by the pool. Especially in the warm evenings with a bottle of wine and a bowl of local olives. The views over the bay are impressive by day and night.
We didn’t bother using the rental car, but used the trains, trams and buses which can get you anywhere and you don’t have to hunt for a parking space.
A very enjoyable holiday we’d do again. No complaints.

Had a wonderful stay at Scoubidou over the Easter break. The hillside location means fantastic views and a real sense of peace and privacy. Bit of confusion at first trying to sort out the electric blinds, but the management team based in the next village are English speakers and we got everything resolved quickly enough. We mostly just lounged in/by the private pool, which is obviously a big attraction of the place, but you can easily drive into Nice or other nearby towns if you’re feeling adventurous. A great little villa for a “get away from it all” break.

I was one of the first people to stay here after the villa had been renovated ready for renting this year. The place has a lot of character and everything is comfortable, particularly the beds, and it all works fine. The level of privacy is terrific especially having your own pool and lots of peace and quiet. The garden and patio area was good for entertaining. I was glad though to have use of a car so as to be able to get to all the interesting places round and about and also down into the village and to the beach. Last time I visited with my partner but I will probably return with him and our grown-up children next time.
