“Fabulous – A Holiday Tonic - Perfect”
This was our first visit to the old town of Alaro. Last year we stayed in Sa Pobla and the house was a bit of a disaster, where a resident had just moved out to make some decent money in the summer months. Here, however, the property is clearly a rental and caters properly for holiday makers. The villa is modern in design throughout and sits in the older part of the town dating back to the 13th century. Thankfully there is not an abundance of tourists and you really feel that you are in the heart of a vibrant and close-knit community. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. NB - There is no parking on site but down the hill (about 50 yards) there is ample street parking which is free, so please don’t worry - we never had to look for spaces. There are two double lock front doors and security throughout is excellent. The welcome from the owner was friendly and informative. The ground floor is very open plan and spacious. A very well appointed kitchen with terrific fittings and supplies and even a bottle of wine in the fridge to welcome us. The main lounge is comprised of a dining table sits 10 and there is a further spacious seating area. There is a decent TV with hundreds of channels but to be honest we didn’t come here to watch TV. There is a washing machine / dishwasher / Nespresso coffee maker / Fridge freezer etc Wi-Fi is very strong and work throughout the house and in most of the garden area. There is a lovely seating area immediately outside the French windows with a table that seats 8 & this is very private and not overlooked. This leads on to a beautiful lawned enclosed garden which also has plenty of shaded areas with mature lime, lemon and palm trees and this then leads on to a large salt water pool. The backdrop is the mountains and at dusk is simply stunning. The immaculately clean pool is cleverly built with all the fixtures that keep it clean located under the large deck and so no noise! Round the pool there are sun beds and chairs as well as an umbrella for shade. Upstairs there are three large bedrooms with one en-suite and the other two share a bathroom. The master has a beautiful view towards the town and the others look on to the mountain as well as the garden. All clean and tidy with good showers and ample hot water. Communication from the owner was excellent before and during the stay. We commented that we felt the drains needed clearing and that day whilst away he efficiently arranged for this to be done. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends and those reading this review especially as Alaro is well located on the island. Furthermore it hasn’t become affected by the tourists yet! We loved travelling out to Palma, Pollenca & Soller. Pollance had a lovely restaurant called Onze that we really liked. We also love Es Guix - see my other review which is unique and can't be missed.
