“Better villas available in Javea”
This was our 6th year visiting Javea but our first visit to villa Isabel. Picking up the keys from the office was nice and easy and we then proceeded on to villa isabel. When we arrived at the villa the garden and the pool looked lovely, when going in to the villa it felt a little smaller than we have stayed at in the past but big enough for the 4 of us. The villa is advertised as having satellite tv, but only has 6 channels all of which are Spanish, now i know that this is not critical, but when staying with young children having a few english channels would be useful when trying to keep young children out of the sun for some of the afternoon. As mentioned the Garden and swimming pool looked beautiful and the pool is advertised as having a beach style entrance which it does, but at the end of the entrance there is a big step which you are not expecting so be weary of this with little ones. The pool also had a number of tiles missing which my son hurt his foot on a number of occassions. The Sunbeds around the pool are very dated and are the old fashioned one were you pull on the arms e.tc. to get them to go up and down, and the covers to go on them were very dirty and had stains on them. At one stage my husband sat down and fell straight on the floor as they dont seem very stable. These could be replaced for a few hundred euros and i feel this would reduce the risk of injury. We found it difficult to sleep at night due to how warm it was, there is a ceiling fan but when we turned this on it wobbled considerably so we didnt feel safe having it on above us. I think some air conditioning, even if portable units in the summer would help the situation. The kitchen is small, but big enough for a holiday kitchen, however the problem came when we wanted to use the oven. Whatever cleaning liquids that they have used on the oven has odviously taken of all of the info on the dials so you have 3 dials and are not able to tell which does what or the temperatures, we managed to find a manual and then it was a bit of pot luck from there as to getting the temperature right. The kitchen has a bit of a mish mash of items when it come to glasses and crockery in the kitchen and i feel perhaps they could do with taking it all away and staring again, ther were either 2 huge wines glasses available or champagne flutes, so i feel a few cheap standard size glasses would be beneficial. They also provide small plastic cups for the children but i felt they needed to provide some bigger ones for adults around the pool so we went out and purchased some of these. All in all we had a fantastic family holiday and had some great fun on the beach and found a fantastic restaurant called the Black Beluga on the Arenal which i would highly recommend, and their kir royale is to die for and we visited the aqualandia waterpark in Benidorm which is great for a family day out. We will definatley be going back to Javea again but would not stay in this villa again as i feel there are better out there.
Response from the manager Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Villa Isabel. We are sorry you felt the villa had some shortcomings. We do have an onsite management office to deal with any problems and to help guests enjoy their stay to the full. We have brought up the specific points you mention with the owners and we have already addressed those which we felt would hamper one“s stay.
