“Lovely outdoors - shame about the Beds!”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2016

I'd just like to echo the points made in the other reviews. It's a lovely property and the outdoor area is amazing and we had a lot of fun playing tennis, boules, basketball and football. And the swimming pool is Ace. The interior though is very tired and in need of a little love and attention. Finally the beds; the noisiest, squeakiest bed-frames I've come across. Like the other reviewer we ended up sleeping on the floor - not the nicest way to spend one’s holiday. In short buy new double beds! They're not that expensive - try Ikea. The management company was very responsive and quickly fixed the dishwasher and a coffee maker - so thanks for that. There was an issue with the smelly drains, the management company told us that would be addressed after we left.

Response from the manager Dear Nigel, Thank you for your review. I am happy that you had a nice holiday. We are sorry that you had some issues with the beds, we will let the owner of the property know so we can fix this. Also the problem with the drains is fixed, we decided to do this after your holiday when the house was empty to not disturb your holiday. We hope to see you again. Kind regards Aguila Rent

“The Villa is nothing like the pictures that were obviously taken years ago.”

Our whole family went on this holiday 23 in all, our youngest son found the villa, booked it and done all the organizing so I think he above all of us was the most disappointed. The fact is the pictures and video on the internet that he and all of us were led by must be 20 years out of date, taken when the villa was loved and looked after, a sad comparison to how it really looks today, VERY MISLEADING. Its such a shame ,Size wise its perfect ,but its very poorly maintained and needs a lot of TLC. Only a few of the bedrooms had air-con which we were aware of, so we asked for a number of fans for the other bedrooms which were supplied, but of course we had to pay extra for. One of the air-con units dripped water all night. Some of the outside shutters were broken so couldn't be opened, All the double beds squeaked unbearably, even just turning over, never experienced anything like them before .One of the beds even had missing & broken slats. Most of us put the mattresses on the floor for the week! On our arrival we spent over 300 euros stocking the fridge freezers and cupboards up with food & drink. The following day the fridge cooker and dishwasher in the front kitchen stopped working, we tried to phone the agents but no reply. We were getting a little concerned as the fridge was full of food purchased the previous day and there was no room in the other fridges, so we started to investigate the problem. We as a family are not short of experience in these matters and due to the fact the previous review stated that no one came out for four days when they had no heating, if we left it who was going to pay for our lost food in the fridge? the agents? I think not. We found the ring main had tripped out so we tried to turn it on, but it blew again. We then searched further only to find that the hob, oven and dishwasher were wired together with insulating tape, wires sticking out of it, therefore causing a short. This was all plugged into a wall socket. There's no Health & Safety there!! We then found that the dishwasher was on an extension lead which was connected directly below a water pipe! At this point I was getting a little concerned for the Safety of my family. Just then my daughter came out saying she had just cut herself as there was broken glass in the cutlery tray- followed by my granddaughter asking why does my phone charger turn off when I turn the light off?? The problem in the kitchen was sorted by removing the plug from the socket leaving us unable to use the hob or oven and plugging the dishwasher into another socket. The Flies were something else! Thousands of the awful things. We realise the owners are not responsible for pests like flies, but the least they could do would be to put electronic fly killers in areas where food is being prepared and eaten. However there was one outside - but that did not work!! Sadly we had to buy those long sticky fly traps to hang in the kitchens, they looked disgusting but they helped to a degree! On the plus side, and there are not many, the cleaners left the place nice and clean, pool towels were nice. I'm afraid it doesn't get better outside. The pool looked fairly clean on arrival and the pool man did appear on our second day to tell us to keep the pool topped up to allow the chlorine tablets to work. We did this , but it didn't prevent 9 of the children going down with ear infections & feeling generally unwell by Wednesday/Thursday. Bad luck or bad pool maintenance? maybe a bit of each, but if the pool gets as much care as the villa then I think the latter more probable! The pool man did appear once more very early one morning- my daughter -in-law said he walked around the pool looking at it & did nothing. The first time he cleaned it with a net , the second he didn't & no water tests were done at all to our knowledge. You see we have stayed in Villas before as a family & we know roughly what to expect, & we certainly didn't expect 9 of our grandkids to have bad ears after a few days in a pool. Its NEVER happened before- you could accept 1 or 2 but not 9!! The gardens were passable, just. Tennis court & football areas were shabby & unkempt & I think thats being kind! They looked as though they had not been used or tended to for years. As for the gym area, a chain with no punch bag on the end & a rickety ladder contraption falling off a wall could hardly be described as a gym!! All in all we were there , and despite the villa we got on with it & had a good time, because we are a family & enjoy being together. The area is lovely. The beach front and restaurants & bars are glorious, so could the villa be with some much needed attention! I do hope the owners take note of this- sorry to go on so long but we feel others needed to be warned. Its very unfair to mislead hardworking trusting people who expect a villa to look as it does on the internet. It could be beautiful......deal with it.

Response from the manager Thank you for your comments, We didn't get any notice of the issues and the suggestion form was not completed, so we were not aware of this. But we will inform the owner about all of this.

“Could be a great place but heating disaster, poor service and shoddy decor”

Nice roomy villa for big group (we had over 20) BUT: - Heating wasn't working on arrival (and the agency knew). Didn't get fixed for 4 days and temperatures were near zero overnight. Agency failed to provide alternatives eg electric heaters (even extra blankets were too much trouble). To really rub salt into the wound, they wouldn't refund any of the extortionate heating cost which are charged in addition to the basic rental. - Interior is shabby and needs decoration - wouldn't take much but it doesn't feel like a luxury villa by any means. Basic items like sufficient mugs were missing - we ended up buying our own. NOT WHAT YOU EXPECT FROM THE PICTURES - Not 100% the villa's fault, but we were broken into. Loads of electronics items were taken plus cash. Very "professional" job. I guess it says something about the neighbourhood, so be warned. Also THERE ARE NO INDIVIDUAL ROOM LOCKS - so once the thieves were in they had access to every room. I have complained to the villa agency and not received any compensation - I really wouldn't stay here OR IN ANY OTHER VILLA OPERATED BY AGILA VILLA RENTALS

Response from the manager Thank you for your comments, We are very sorry to know that this has happened, Regarding the stealing we weren't aware about this issue but the owner changed all the locks this year.
