“Not in advertised location and dirty!”

BEWARE - this property is listed as Villa Port Soller on booking.com. I agree with everything on the previous review. We expected to be able to walk, as described on booking.com, the 0.6km to the sea. Instead found we were 3 km up a very steep and winding road up the mountain. This meant we had to spend a fortune on taxis to go into the Port to eat/shop. Each return taxi from/to the villa costs minimum €25 - quite an addition to holiday costs - bearing in mind we had particularly chosen this villa on its stated location. We also spent a lot of time waiting on the road for taxis - one evening almost an hour - as the drivers could not find the property. This caused us to be constantly phoning the taxi company so not looking forward to my phone bill! The owner admitted to us that the address advertised is incorrect - this begs the question why has this not been corrected especially since we are not the first people to mention this? Can only assume that we were deliberately misled and mis-sold this property.
The crockery, glassware and cutlery ALL had to be cleaned before use. Some plates and bowls even had old food stuck to them. Coffee mugs were badly chipped and stained - unusable. Much of the cutlery was rusty - unuseable. The coffee machine had not been emptied. When we opened the microwave we were shocked and disgusted to find bags of green mushy/mouldy food which must have been there for weeks. This then made the microwave unusable due to the bacteria left inside. In general all kitchen items were filthy.

The hot water tank is so small that there was not enough hot water for two showers before it ran cold.

If you are not a cat lover you may have have a problem due to local feral cats scavenging for food every day.
The bedrooms have no curtains. Bedroom 1 has a toilet and shower but these are in the bedroom with no doors/walls and no privacy even for the toilet. The shower floods the bedroom so after one mopping up session this was not used. Bedroom 2 is on a mezzanine with no doors, therefore no privacy. Bedroom 3 - the twin room - is very small and again has a toilet with no door! There is a further ‘bathroom’ but this is actually a storeroom outside and the shower cubicle was stacked with mops, buckets and garden tools. Due to all of the above we all had to share one bathroom/toilet.

There were bare electrical wires in the bathroom and on outdoor lights. The lock on the outer front door is broken so security is not really taken seriously.

The agency who manages this villa UEP WELCOME SERVICES were useless. The only urgency they showed was to collect the €150 euros cleaning fee and the city taxes. Following that they were difficult to reach, ignored requests, lied to us about a technician being on his way and having removed the wifi router prior to our arrival did not return this to us until 2 days before our departure. Frustratingly, a lot of our time was spent calling, texting and emailing them. We requested contact details for a Director of the company so that we could email - this was denied! If you want a villa with a nice pool (although I wouldn't say it is safe for children) in a peaceful spot up a mountain and are prepared to deal with problems such as those listed above then this might be the place for you - otherwise take heed!

“Not as advertised”

Reviewed 25 Nov 2016

The location on the map on the TripAdvisor listing shows the villa to be in the middle of the village of Port Soller, it is actually located several kilometres outside the village, up in the mountains. The villa owner admitted to being intentionally misleading saying “The addresses on TripAdvisor aren’t the real ones”. The Tripadvisor listing made no mention of needing a car to get there. The Tripadvisor listing claims “Water views”, an outrageous claim as there is only one spot on the property where you can see the sea, on the path leading from the villa to the pool, and even there you only get a glimpse of the sea between trees and mountains. There was no filter coffee maker as promised by the owner. Of the two espresso pots available one was dirty, smelly and too disgusting a state to use. The other was small, enough to make one cup of coffee. I don't understand how they expect it to cater for the six people the villa can accommodate. Furthermore the pot was too small to be supported by the hob pan support. There was no toaster, the Tripadvisor listing includes one. Many of the mugs were chipped and the drinking glasses needed cleaning before they could be used. The cutlery, crockery and kitchen utensils were generally old odds and ends, not nice to use. The hot water tank is so small that there was not enough hot water for two showers before it ran cold. There was a family of five feral cats living outside. We could not leave any ground floor windows, or the door to the patio open or they persistently tried to come inside scavenging for food. The rail in a wardrobe came down when we hung our clothes on it. There was no lightbulb in a bedside lamp in one of the main bedrooms. The bedrooms had no curtains to keep out the daylight in the morning. There were bare electrical wires in the bathroom, one of the wardrobes and the living room. This gave the villa an 'unfinished' feel in decorative terms. There was not enough light to read by in the living room. The TV in the living room is positioned by the side of the sofas so you need to look sideways to see it. We were told we couldn't use the fire as the chimney was blocked. Having said all that, at least the villa, grounds and pool are very nice.
