“Beautiful modern villa in quiet area close to Cala Egos and a €5 taxi ride from Cala D'or.”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2014

Have just returned from a week at Villa Marino and had a lovely time. The villa offers four bedrooms, two larger rooms with en suite bathrooms on the first floor and two smaller bedrooms on the ground floor. All rooms are a reasonable size so perfect for up to eight guests. The villa is large inside and comes with a fully equipped kitchen and three dining areas to allow you to easily cook and dine in. Having a dishwasher and washing machine was really handy too, just make sure that you don't leave ANY food lying as this quickly leads to ant infestations. The pool is beautiful, large and clean and surprisingly not too cold for September, there were also plenty of sun loungers and some lilos. We enjoyed everything about our stay, however one thing to note is that the villa is a good ten minute walk from Cala Egos and around a one hour walk to Cala D'or - we tried it but you'd better off getting a taxi (taxi rank is a 5-10 minute walk) or mini train. Both will save you about 45 minutes. Please note that taxi drivers generally don't know exactly where the villa is so be prepared to give directions. I'd also advise heading into Cala D'or if planning to eat out as the food and service was much superior to Cala Egos and more reasonable. The whole villa is supplied with salt water, there is no fresh water! Be prepared to buy lots of bottled water as the salt water makes having a shower, brushing your teeth and cooking a little more hassle. The nearest supermarket is in Cala Egos which made getting fresh water quite strenuous as we didn't have a car. I wouldn't recommend anyone to rely on the wifi, the speed is very slow and we found that we were unable to do much on it (not always a bad thing when on holiday!) My final point is that we were told to always keep the shutters down and doors locked when leaving the villa and sleeping. This point made us a little uneasy about security and we were unable to find the safety deposit box although the villa was meant to have one. We did ask the maid but she wasnt aware of where it was either, the only place we didn't check was behind the pictures! Our week passed with no incident so I assume this is the advice given for the whole of the local area l, please don't worry too much. A final point on security is that the front door locks automatically when pulled shut, we managed to lock ourselves out so worth being extra careful with where you keep the keys. All in all a great holiday and would stay at the villa again!

“A good holiday had by all.”

A beautiful spacious villa in a quiet location. The villa was spotlessly clean and offered everything we needed to make our holiday easy and comfortable. The garden and pool was well kept with plenty of sun beds and garden furniture, plenty of space for 4 adults and 3 children. A 10 min. stroll to the nearest shops and bars/restaurants. A 15 min. stroll to the lovely beach of Cala d'es Pou and a 20 min. walk to the harbour. The mini train does run to Cala D'Or but was often full but we found the taxi fare very reasonable at a similar cost. We all had a lovely relaxing holiday and hope to repeat the experience.
