This is our second time in Life in Amed. This villa is very special- not only is it beautiful with a lot of lovingly details but it has a really stunning surrounding which activates all of your senses: Beautiful garden and sea view, sound of the ocean and the fishermen village, smell of the flowers and the ocean, fantastic restaurant and a wonderful vibe!
We were a diverse group with two little childern and all of us found nice things to do. My daughter and I did Yoga classes, my son had his first swim lessons in the sea water pool, my husband and our friends went diving and sailing, we all snorkelled, had massages, went to the spa, and went hiking and so on.. A trip with the local fishermen was also very special and we enjoyed our self-angled fish. Also the staff is worth mentioning, everybody is extremely helpful and sweet. We especially loved the fact that they were babysitting our children.
The food was great - we had a lot of seafood and a lot of good fruit drinks.
We will come back a third time!! Thank you, Life in Amed

PS: The vulcano did not bother us at all, as Life in Amed is within the safe zone

I stayed here with a group of friends and was pleasantly surprised by the spacious beauty of this house, the pool, and the gardens around - the photos do not do it justice. The view from the terraces and living room are directly onto the ocean and the beach lies just a few steps from the doorstep. Every morning you get to see the stunning sunrise and watch Balinese life carry on around you as the fishermen return to shore with their fresh catch. The house is tucked away from the road and entirely private. We received daily room service from the hotel's restaurant -- the staff are amazing! They are very friendly and willing to chat about their lives. The food is delicious and quite varied - a few of us were vegetarians and there were plenty of choices on the menu to please all. We also enjoyed several of the fresh healthy juices and indulged in the slightly decadent chocolate cake :)

One of the loveliest features about Life in Amed is their attention to detail in decor and gardens. We enjoyed the yoga classes and loved the fact that they gave a free class to Balinese children during our stay. (this happens every week.) We also loved being in a fishing village, meeting the locals, being included in a traditional ceremony, and getting a much more authentic Balinese experience than we ever could have elsewhere.

We stayed in the Perfume Garden Villa and had our own house, pool, and use of the grounds with epic views of the sunrise, fisherman families and communities of Amed life in Bali. The food was healthy and delicious and we could order and eat in the Villa. The privacy was exceptional considering how in Bali, there are always villagers about! Sarah, the owner, made sure we had all we needed. Even in the rainy season with mosquitos and some rain dampness, we had warmth, incense, music, chocolate and loving care.

The staff are very friendly. The noise of the fishermen arriving in the morning to take their boats out starts at 4:00am. I picked up a lot of rubbish ( mostly plastic) from their beach. Take plenty of mosquito repellant. They are constant. No hot water for 2 days. No internet for 3 days. We were charged R 50000 per person to use their yoga studio. They do run their own daily classes as well.
There is a beautiful walk that runs parallel to the coast line not far from the Villa. Ask Mardey for directions
Lots of warungs with freshly caught fish close by.
Value for the 4 of us was average.

Debbi, thank you for taking time out to review us here, Made and I are very surprised by your comments, as you were all smiles during your stay. Made took you out snorkeling personally and I took you to the Temple for offerings with our staff. You were part of a Yoga group whom all enjoyed the Perfumed Garden, which is beachfront, the fishermen do leave around 5am to catch fish on their jukung boats, sometimes they are like ghosts and not a sound and upon waking you see all the boats have left and return after sunrise. As soon as we were alerted about the water, we came personally to fix the issue, the wifi in this area sometimes can fluctuate, we are in a more remote spot of Bali, we also have a computer in our office if anyone wishes to use it, most of the time wifi signal is good, and I was there we had internet during your stay, no one else mentioned it to us ! I think Made explained rainy season and plastics, this happens everywhere in the world, Amed has weekly clean up and a local non profit organization that now collects hundreds of kilo's a week from the community, we continually have events to address and educate this environmental worldwide problem.. I hope you have some good memories of your stay, as you seamed so happy while you were with us !

We originally booked 8 nights at the villa to be able to fully rest and relax in a very quiet environment. Staff, restaurant and villa are good but people should be aware there is a temple almost next door which performs 3 times per day (every day) a ceremony and broadcast it via speakers starting from 6am. It could be fine if during day time you could take a nap but it is not the case as the fishermen are staying on the beach in front of the villa and loudly speak the whole day (Not to talk about roosters).
We finally checked out after 3 nights and the manager was very professional in handling the situation as she reimbursed the left 5 nights.

I am glad of the review here and able to give information about our hotel, our village and a visit to Bali. I must say firstly Bali is known for the "Island of the Gods" and also having more Temples than actual homes... so everywhere in Bali are Temples. We are in a fishing village on the Amed coast, visiting is like going back in time, and very unlike the experience of being in the southern areas where village life has been cleansed and replaced with concrete high rise hotels and grid lock on most of the roads. So there are ceremonies all over Bali on a continual basis for a variety of events in the Hindu religion, most visitors are aware they are visiting a country with a unique and colourful faith and traditions. There will be noises, music, chants etc for all ceremonies, some can last for 3 days....though this chant mentioned here is a 2 minute tape recording coming from the Village Temple at 6am... we have had thousands of guests staying with us over the years at Life in Amed and this is the very first person to complain, ever.... so we did not want to loose your booking and you to be comfortable, so my manager Made went to have a meeting with the "Maksan" which is like going to your town "Mayor" to ask if the speaker could be lowered for this guest...can you imagine going to your City Hall, getting a private meeting to turn down your church bells or something similar, that is how lovely my staff are.... then Made and other members of my staff went to the Village Temple, which is a Holy Place of Worship for them , to turn down the speaker... I refunded this guest for the remainder of days, upon leaving he said everything else was perfect, (the house is stunning)..just the 2 minute chant was disturbing him... in Bali most people rise at 4 to 5am to go to the markets and cook for the day, our fishermen go fishing, there are chickens in Bali, there are spontaneous processions...if you had even looked outside his window he would have seen the most spectaular sunrises at 6am, fishing boats in the distance... so I apologize that we did not meet your expecations and hopefully most people see beyond this review and check out our other reviews on Tripadvisor for Life in Amed.. the one directly after this guest left "Perfect, relaxed stay at the beach"... Amed is a relatively new tourism area , if you have an adventurous spirit, a person that likes to feel connected to the community, peel back the layers of our busy Western lives and see simplicity around them please come, children also love it here,...there will be ceremonies, we do our best to inform our guests when they could be happening and everyone is invited to join in and be a guest within our village. Amed is not more everyone, though most people are charmed. Thank you for your review .

We are part of Life in Amed Boutique Hotel, this space is a little bit more than half the size of the whole hotel, with it's own swimming pool and large lawn, there is a wall dividing the property, all rooms and terraces look directly at the ocean. We have a full service restaurant , meters away with room service available from our delightful waiters. Most people on holiday prefer their meals cooked for them and also the connivence as there are no supermarkets in Amed like the busier areas in the south...we feel our guests would prefer not to go shopping and cook when we have such a great menu and the pricing is a fraction of what you would pay in Europe. For future visitors thinking of staying, we do have a fridge for snacks, complimentry tea, coffee and spring water, china, glasses & cutlery... there are also some great restaurants nearby to have a change of scenery and try some different cuisine. Perfumed Garden is a wonderful spot, many of our customers are expats whom visit us to get away from the hectic pace of the south...please visit us again.

Wow, this place can guarantee you total relaxation! I booked the Perfumed Garden Beach House for my family, 5 adults and 1 child and it suited our wishes perfectly. The house is very spacious as well as the garden. It is literally 10 steps to the beach and what a luxury to have your own swimmingpool and the ocean to swim in.
Because the hotel is situated in the fishing village of Lean, you can hear the fishermen go out to sea at 5 am in the morning. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs. Yes you hear them leave but they really think about your sleep as well so it's not noisy. Around 7 am you can see them come back with the catch of the day. The people from the village are indeed very friendly, want to talk in English to you to practice and tell you about what is happening in their village. We were actually invited to the ceremony of a 3 month old baby! We went, fully dressed in sarongs, and were treated to tea, coffee and sweets. What hospitality!
We stayed 3 days and all 3 days ordered food from the hotel restaurant. The menu is great, many choices, the staff brings it to the house so you still have the feeling of eating at home. Home away from home, thank you Life in amed!!
