The villa is designed beautifully with a modern minimalist concept and furnished very tastefully. On top of that, it is located only a few metres from the black sand beach below. What we loved most was that the 3 bedrooms are separated with each having their privacy but the same panoramic ocean views. Their garden is beautiful and was told it was designed by the famed landscape artist John Pettigrew.

It might be a bit of a drive to the villa due to the tiny village roads, we were very happy to relax and stay in as the chef and staff service was great plus we have all the amenities and facilities in the villa where we didn't need to go out at all. On days we would like to do some shopping and sightseeing, we hired a car & driver with the help of the villa manager - he is fab as he can help arrange for anything that you require.

We will definitely be back and will recommend this beautiful hidden gem to our friends and family as well!

We were told Tantangan means "challenge" - presumably named after the effort it took to create. The name is fitting.

The drive, taking us far from the city amenities and requiring a little bit of trivial travel on an unfinished road, offered absolutely extraordinary views of Bali's rice fields.

The villa itself seemed as if it had been pulled from the covers of a modern architectural magazine; the opening pathway took us past a giant pond that we later discovered was the rooftop of a room embedded in the hillside, overlooking the jungle and with quick access to the beach.

The design of the rest of Tantangan follows suit - nothing appears to have been conceived without the utmost of thought or care. When the architecture wasn't wowing us - the views certainly were.

Situated on a cliff overlooking miles of winding beaches, from sunrise to sunset, we couldn't look away.
