As the sun starts sneaking through the curtains, I can hear birds starting to chirp. It is as if they are saying, ‘Get out of bed now, and go enjoy Bali.’

My Cepaka wake-up call is a lot friendlier than my generic IPhone alarm.

Cepaka is a local Balinese village located 20 minutes from the action centre of Seminyak. The village is as authentic as you will find, untouched from western globalization. As I drove through the towns narrow pot-holed streets, I saw children and dogs congregating and village elders squatting in deep conversation.

When I arrived in Cepaka, I wondered what could possibly be nestled in this small village. Though as my driver pulled up and I opened the car door, I realised that I’d unlocked the door to heaven, also known as Villa Jewel.

I walked down Villa Jewels, white stoned stairs and I am quickly offered fresh juice from Wayang and Nyoman two smiling Balinese women. Their smiles are so infectious that I found myself breaking out in support. They introduce themselves as my housekeeper and cooks for the next week.

I don’t often say villas or accommodations are extraordinary so when I say Villa Jewel is, I mean it entirely. The villa sleeps 10, boasts two infinity pools, a yoga bale with river views, a cinema, a billiards room and a private lavish spa room.

The residences entirety overlooks the river Pennet and a tropical forest. You can’t see anything, or anyone else. It is complete seclusion. And if you want that for the week, you can as the villa prepares breakfast, lunch and dinner. Whilst at Villa Jewel you are not required to move a muscle.

You may be thinking, wow this place must be expensive. However compared to villas in Seminyak and Kuta which are priced at an average $500-$800 USD a night, Villa Jewel is reasonably priced at $490 USD a night. Considering what you get at Villa Jewel the price is a bargain for families or groups of friends.

Hundreds of Aussie locals every year visit Bali for its wild nightlife, cheap beer and crowded markets. Although there is more to this island than is advertised. I offer you a challenge, to visit the remote parts of Bali, the parts that are still untouched by branded hotels. I can assure you, you will find hidden jewels. Though it is hard to go past, Villa Jewel. A guaranteed week in paradise.
