“Peter's review of Villa Lariana”

We and our extended family really enjoyed our stay at Villa Lariana. The property is large, airy, and comfortable. The staff (property manager, housekeeping, chef) is terrific. There are lots of bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and air conditioner. The kitchen is commercial quality and huge--perfect for preparing meals for a large group. The heated pool (which can be completely covered in case of rain) offered welcome relief at the end of each day. The ping-pong table in the game room kept the kids occupied. DON'T MISS the Boat Museum (La Raccolta della Barca Lariana), which is no longer open to the public, but can be viewed by villa guests with the property manager. It's a spectacular record of the nautical history of the lake. We also enjoyed walking the length of the public lakefront walkway that passes in front of the villa.

Villa Lariana is a beautiful house. The villa is beautiful. Very roomy, large kitchen that was once a restaurant, lovely caretaker Daniella who is extremely helpful and daily housekeeping. The house is lovely and gracious. Very sleepy town but the surrounding vista is stunning and the lack of tourist activity is a plus. Not too difficult to get to the towns nearby but requires a significant ferry or car journey. It is quite a distance down the lake from Como and has limited ferry access. There is a public walkway that is fairly busy, which limits the feeling of privacy. The owners have planted hedges to increase privacy but unfortunately that reduces the view of the lake!

Excellent! We loved the house, the location, everything was great! The house is very spacious and the location is amazing, right in front of lake Como. Everything was fine. My only suggestions are to install air conditioning in the bedrooms and the option of heating the pool - the water was too cold! The lake is beautiful. For visiting the villages, a car is necessary.

What a fabulous time we had at the villa in Italy! It was everything you said it would be. The owner/keyholder was wonderful to deal with. She left us a detailed folder with all the things we needed to know and more about the villa and the area. We had perfect weather, as well. We woke up to clouds one morning, and it was snowing on the mountains. It was truly beautiful. It was mostly melted the next day, but for a short period of time, really changed the landscape. It was a very well maintained house with a good House Book. Location. Loved the kitchen - it even had a microwave/convection oven! The house was spotless. Can't think of anything. Uncomfortable furniture in the living room. The owner said that it was just temporary and would be replaced. We loved the small villages and the ferries, and the ability to walk along the water. The people were great.

Being directly on the lake was magnificent. The entrance to the villa was disappointing. It was very quiet, and there were a few good restaurants close by.
