“Exquisite lake-front villa that captures the essence of Italy”

Reviewed 17 Oct 2013

The villa is exquisite. Upon first entering the property, also known as Villa Remegio, it is clear the property is professionally maintained. The Gardner, Paolo, works on the property daily. The results are evident: beautiful planting s, flowers everywhere, a lawn available for relaxing and enjoyment. The property is on Lake Maggiore, providing breath-taking views of the water, ships and distant land. The lake views are accessible from all rooms, particularly the master bedroom and expansive living room. We had a week of September sunshine to enjoy these sites, as well as pleasant evening temperatures. The interior is more impressive than shown in the photos. The owner has excellent taste, and the restoration of this former chapel is executed to perfection, with no expense spared. This is also demonstrated in the amenities available, from hot tub, to sauna, to a kayak. The owner also made the first impression positive. He left a large bowl of tasty fruit, vases filled with fresh cut flowers, and two bottles of wine to welcome us. The villa s located a short drive away from Pallanza, a delightful and beautiful town with ample quality restaurants and shopping. There were only minor issues of concern. The spiral staircase required caution for members of our group of six who were over 6'3" tall. And the driveway was a little challenging for our large vehicle. And since the villa is located on a one-way street you need to expect a few kilometers drive to return home. The greatest difficulty, however, was having to leave this heaven-on-earth villa after a week.

“Best vacation & vacation home we have ever stayed in”

Over the last 15 years my family and I have rented vacation homes in many countries and in fact we own a water front vacation rental in Hawaii. Our experience, staying at this Lake Maggiore villa, was simply incredible. Each day we were prepared a breakfast out of this world, we had our own private beach, private and gated parking area with complete from road serene privacy, we dined under the stars directly over the water and danced on our completely private property lawn, our children played on the swing and slides endlessly on the expansive gardens and Aldo, the owner and the staff including 7 days a week chef/home helper, groundsman and gardener made sure that we were happy. We made trips from the local ferry to other towns, took cable-cars to the top of mountains, visited vineyards and even drove up into the mountainous national park for a hike, kayaked from our beach, bicycled with child seat into the nearby town for gelato and looked from the master bedroom directly on the water at the moon the water at night. To end the day we sat in the spa with a modern italian indonesian look, it was a dream come true and we highly recommend this home for the vacation of a lifetime.
