“Lake Como Delight”

Reviewed 17 Oct 2013

Nestled on the shore of Lake Como, this resort strikes a balance between luxury and informality, privacy and community. Celebrating our thirtieth anniverary, my wife and I chose the Lake Como Beach Resort for the second half of our trip ot Italy, after a short stay in Venice. The beauty of its natural surroundings, lake and mountains, provided the perfect foil and respite. The location is ideal for day trips, halfway between the small city of Como and the touristic Bellagio, with convenient water and bus access to both. For the more energetic, a day trip to Milan is also possible. Descending the drive, elevator and walking path to the facility was daunting on the first night, but we acclimated quickly, and it was all good exercise. The towns and villas on the lake are picture-perfect, and the opportunities for walking and hiking outside of the towns are plentiful. The apartment was well organized and furnished, with a delightful view of the lake from both patio and balcony. The kitchen was efficient and pleasant, and the short walk to the grocery store and bar/restaurant allowed us to meet local people. Picking persimmon, grapes and figs on and near the property added to our culinary enjoyment. The mix of fellow travelers, couples of various ages, some with children, gave the air of an extended family reunion to the stay, only with more interesting "relatives" than most families. Just lollying around the resort for a day was a relaxing choice. The on-site service was considerate and responsive, rather like staying with friends, and the ownership was discretely present. We heartily recommend the resort to others, and hope to return ourselves.

“Stunning location, superb service and extremely relaxing.”

The location was amazing and coupled with the resort's facilities, made our groups stay all the more memorable. The level of service provided by Eric and his team was fantastic. Nothing was a hassle - from arranging transport and food delivery to recommendations of sights, Eric was only too happy to help. The private jetty and water toys were a hit as were the communal facilities and resort grounds. Highly recommended for a hassle-free, comfortable and relaxing stay. Only negative is not being able to stay longer.

“Fully recommend without hesitation”

A truly enjoyable experience. I spent a half-week in one of the Villas, but took advantage of the waterfront location of the Villettas as suggested. The grounds are beautiful with modern glass elevators (think Willy Wonka) that take you down from the main road to the Villettas, which have a deck for sunbathing and direct dock access to Lake Como. The views are incredible. Great location close enough to everything but with enough separation to feel obligated to take things slower, which is the way it should be. Everything was immaculate; Eric and Robin clearly take pride in what they're building. They were professional in arranging the reservation and, once you're there, are extremely friendly and helpful. Their daughter Jiselle is too funny. Although both American, Eric and Robin know everything you need to know, allowing you to travel like a local, since they're completely integrated into the community. I could not recommend more. Looking forward to going back.

Rental was easy, everything was as described. Great location to Como and Bellagio. Eric is easy to work with and has great insight about the greater area . We traveled around during the day and relaxed in the evening. Good choice of restaurants close by the resort. Recommend getting food for room early as the town closes up a little earlier than I was use to,but that was part of the charm of the area. Least favorite thing would be the driveway. Stay wide!

“Very attractive stay in a magnificent place”

What is very pleasant, is that everything is in compliance with the descriptions and with the galleries of photos found on announcements. In the world of the software we say "Wysiwyg" What You See is What You Get:-) - The rooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated - The garden, the beach and the pontoon are perfectly equipped. Employees are really very nice and very prevenant. I have gone on Lake Como to rest and take advantage of the sweetness of the lake, and it is really completed for that. Moreover, the closeness of the landing stage of ferries allowed us to move easily and to make a lot of real beautiful strolls

“Totally relaxed”

We booked our stay with Eric and Robin at the last minute but they kept us informed on all the details. The communication was perfect and so was the reception by Eric. He told us all about the facilities and the nice things to do around lake Como. Throughout the week Eric frequently got in touch with us to make sure everything was as ok. We have had a very relaxing week at a gorgeous resort with a very enthousiastic and helpfull Eric and with a stunning view over the lake!! One little advice for those who travel by car: if you take Eric's advice to do your shopping in Como (we recommend it) make sure you have the right addresses or directions to the supermarkets. Driving in Como can be somewhat confusing and not all of the supermarkets are on the main road to the resort.

“Lombardy/Lakes Gem”

Our stay began with a wonderful drive from the Como train station to the Villetta by a driver recommended by the owners. We were knocked out when we saw the Villetta, and loved every moment we were there. Owners Eric and Robin have created a special place. Mid-stay, we were exhausted and just hung out at the Villetta's beach and were so refreshed the next day to continue our assault on the area. All the comforts are provided, plus the owner Eric escorts you to a local grocer, points out the ferry dock, gifts you with local wine, gets you online (free), shows you the satellite TV, and then checks in with you during your stay to ensure everything is perfect. The night-time views across the lake are special, the lending library and video library are great, and the setting of this fabulous property could not be better; close to the lake action, but quiet and removed if that is your preference as well. A true gem, do not miss it.

“Rooms with a view”

We stayed for one week at Villeta Felicita and a second week in Costa azurra. Felicita is the better of the Vilettas as it has two additional windows. The properties are very well appointed and equipped with good kitchen areas containing a near full sized fridge freezer, an oven and four ring gas hob. The cooking pots provided were limited and didn't include anything you could use in the oven nor was there anything in the resort's general store of extras. This was a shame as I had planned to leave dinner cooking in the oven and enjoy the sun. The location of this complex is second to none with exceptional views. The access to the resort is hairy and is underplayed by the owners for rear of putting people off. They would be well advised to be more candid so people know what to expect. The drive is steep with sharp turns. There were three scraped vehicles during our stay. Although there is a lift taking you part way up to the carpark there are also many steps and slopes to get to the lift. The under 40's competed as to how quickly they could climb to the road. The over 55's gasped in varying degrees. However without overcoming the access you would miss out on a glorious spot with good accommodation that is peaceful, right on the lake and was a wonderful find. It couldn't be better. Eric, the owner, is a charming man who does everything to make your stay comfortable. I would thoroughly recommend Lcbr. Finally Ladies, if you come here don't bring your high heels!!

Response from the manager Thank you for your lovely review. We are in the process of adding casserole dishes and additional pots to all the villettas for the oven and stove. Being a new residence, we keep adding additional items and keep trying to improve our services. We really appreciate all your comments and feedback. The landscape is very terraced on Lake Como and the lakes areas and the roads are quite challenging with cobblestone streets and some steps. Access to our driveway can also be a challenge for some drivers on arrival. Eric can help you navigate the driveway so that it will be easy the second time around. As far as the Italian drivers, you just need to ignore them and go at your own pace. We so enjoyed having you and meeting you and look forward to your return. Ciao from Lake Como ! Eric, Robin and Jiselle

“Awesome Location and Views”

Wow, what can we say but that this location and holiday have to be the best we have ever had and Eric, Robin and Jiselle were fantastic welcoming hosts. Amazing location and with breathtaking views. You will never wants to leave. The ferry was only a short walk from the villas which we used a lot. You do not need a car as the public transport is so good. There are shops nearby to get all your basic needs and a lovely butcher shop for the bbq. This place is like heaven. Wonderful little resort, just perfect. You outdid yourselves and have a great place here! We will most certainly be back very soon. The Reagans, Germany
