“Beautifully designed house with fantastic views”

Reviewed 8 Sep 2016

We stayed as an extended family - 2 Architect parents and young adult 'children'. The house was perfect for us, really inspiring to live in, yet practical. The main living space is on the ground floor with a single vaulted room containing the kitchen, dining and living room. The views south and west from this room were glorious. The weather was hot, so it was great to be able to retreat to the bedrooms downstairs - these are cool as they are built into the hillside (but with full height windows to a lower garden) and are air conditioned. The whole thing is very well designed and easy to live in. Leon came within 2 minutes of our arrival and was very friendly and welcoming. He also came at the end of our stay to check everything had been OK. He gave us lots of tips on walks, trips, local supermarkets etc. He also brought us some delicious cheese and drink from his parent's farm. The house was spotlessly clean and well equipped to cook, laundry etc. The only thing I would say is it didn't feel like a 'home' (no pictures / objects), but that was part of the thrill. The area is glorious - easy access to the national park, where we enjoyed swimming in the Nadiza and Soca rivers and walks in the Trenta valley. Thank you Leon and Slovenia!

“Stunning”

My husband and I and adult children had the pleasure of staying at Hisa Zatolmin June 2016. Leon the owner was so friendly and spoke English very well. The house was stunning. Everything you could possibly need, and more, was in the house. It was very clean, new and modern. I would most definitely stay there again. Thankyou Leon for a wonderful week in Tolmin.

Response from the owner Dear Steve and Silvana, thank you very much for your excellent review you gave. We were privileged having you as guest and wish you many more stunning experiences throughout the world. All the best from my self and rest of Leban family!

“Lovely base for outdoor activities”

Architecturally the most exciting holiday house I have ever stayed in. The modern house still blends in perfectly with its environment, an otherwise quiet little village close to Tolmin where you find several supermarkets and restaurants. Both indoors and outdoors you will get a splendid view over the valley. Particularly impressive are the mornings, when fog hangs over the river below the house. Our prime purpose of our stay (5 friends) was to explore Soca Valley on a mountainbike and so we were excited to find out that Leon has written a guide book with mountainbike routes, which he happily provided to us. The house has very modern and clean amenities. In the kitchen you will find everything you need and the showers are refreshing after a long day outdoors. The beds are clean and comfortable, with electric blinds to keep out the sun. A washer and dryer are available to wash clothes. If you are not into mountainbiking, the valley is perfect for any outdoor activity and for those in need of some culture or history we recommend visiting the WWI museum in Kobarid. When we stayed in the house, internet by cable was not yet installed but Leon gave us a sim card, which helped us to a fast internet connection. In short a very pleasant stay, with great hospitality from Leon!

What a perfect holiday day in that architectural wonderful and purist house in unique landscape! To experience nature not only at the house with it is wonderful fruit trees on the surrounded meadows and the beautiful view to the valley, but also the perfect entrance to the Triglav National park. A paradise for nature lover and leisure activities (hiking, mountain biking, paragliding ...). The sea is only a 1 hour drive away, so that a day at the beach could be planed. Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is also reachable within a 1 1/2 hour drive and absolutely recommendable. But.....no matter what you have done during the day ....you look always forward to come home to the beautiful purist house to enjoy there the rest of the day and the evening. Mr. Leban, the owner, is very helpful, friendly and we felt very welcome! This house and its surrounding is a real insider tip for people who like architecture, nature und calm and set value on versatile outdoor act ivies in a wonderful and spectacular nature.
