We booked flights to Italy before we had found any accommodation, and this was to meet with family to celebrate my Dad's 60th birthday. We fell in love with Il Mulino (The Old Mill) from the pictures, and when we arrived, the photos do not do it justice!! This made the perfect base for travelling around the lakes. The house was immaculate, and everything you could possibly think of needing in a self catering house has been provided. The kitchen was especially well equipped and we ate meals in the house most days. We visited Varenna, Como, Bellagio, Lezzeno from the house and all were within good travelling distance in a day. The lane is extremely narrow as described, and it did mean that we needed to find parking elsewhere for the larger vehicle we had hired, but this was easy and caused no issues. On the last day, we went to the restaurant of the Hotel Villa Aurora that manage the Old Mill. It was AMAZING!! Our only regret is not eating at this restaurant earlier in the week - the service was amazing, the views perfect and the food out of this world! We cannot wait to go back, it was a superb holiday. Many thanks to Margherita and her team - we absolutely cannot fault the hospitality!!

We booked into The Old Mill in Nesso as part of two of our Italian Lakes holiday and boy it didn't dissapoint. Its appeal is obvious from the photos online , and these really dont do it justice . It's utterly charming, like a beautiful Hansel and Gretel house in the mountains with stunning views really comfortable beds , all manor of luxuries you would except in a hotel, with a bottle of Prossecco and all the basics in the food cupboard , coffee , oils , bread etc. You could not ask for a more well equipped kitchen , they think of everything even a food processor and bun tins ! Its spotlessly clean and has a character to it with various balconies and french doors overlooking the waterfall outside , which is so soothing at night !If you're looking for a rral treat or special place to be romantic , tjis has it in spades ! One of the attractions of The Old Mill was the inclusive use of bikes , stand up paddle boards , kayaks and access the beach club every day, which comes i handy with 3 very active 16- 20 year olds . They even park your car for you! From the moment we arrived Magerita and her team have been so professional and welcoming , we could have not asked for more . Best holiday ever and a resounding success according to three very happy but fussy children . Grazie , grazie , grazie . We will return ciao ciao x

Five adults stayed for 4 nights. Initially we struggled to find the place, and our Ford C-Max rental car really had to squeeze slowly up the access track, but apart from that this was an amazing place to stay. Beautifully furnished, extremely comfortable and with the most amazing views over Lake Como. We had two great barbecues out on the patio and loved being next to the waterfall. Strongly recommended, but probably not for those with mobility problems.

The cottage and village are an absolute joy and we could hardly bring ourselves to leave. The roads in the village and around are very narrow in places but this only adds to the character and fun of the holiday, I would recommend using the little shops in the village some are remarkably well stocked. The cottage is beautifully clean and very well equipped. Having access to the leisure club at the lake was a real bonus. We would love to go back sometime soon.
