“The nearest you will get to heaven with your feet still on the ground.”

If ever there was a place that put the world at your feet, it is here. Every day brings a new and wonderful perspective on the world below and we could have sat all day just looking at the changing views. The setting is, of course spectacular, and the apartment is stunning. Open and spacious, but cosy and comfortable. Bright and modern but not clinical. Fantastic huge TV screen and surround sound. If ever you wanted a place to be your home from home, ( in your dreams) this ticks all the right boxes, even down to the cakes, fruit and wines which were there for us to enjoy after a long journey. Brilliant! Gunther and Heike are great hosts and really welcoming. Friendly and helpful, but not obtrusive. Gunther arranged to take us shopping (his daughter - thankyou!) when our car couldn't negotiate the ice, organised snow tyres for the most challenging of vehicles, did our printing, gave us train timetables, excellent restaurant suggestions, a physio and even a vet when our lovely dog collapsed. His New year's eve fireworks were amazing and to watch the fireworks in the valley below was spectacular. Heike took me to see her quarter horses and attempt to ride with American saddle in the valley, which was an absolute pleasure, even if I didn't cut it as a cowboy. The jacuzzi with veiws over the valley was amazing and having the pool and gym and especially the sauna, was great after a days skiing. Of course, nothing is perfect, so what can I say?.....Alas no cocktail shaker and honestly, Ive had to think hard about that one!

Response from the owner Michelle, thanks a lot, you're wonderful. Looking forward to have you back in March. Guenther

“Best Anniversary/Family Reunion Ever!!”

Reviewed 21 Jul 2016

We celebrated our 50th anniversary with our two kids, their spouses, and four grandkids here for a week, and ended it with a reception/dinner for 40 relatives and friends from Germany. Our 4 BR unit (the Golden Deer) exceeded all of our expectations--every bedroom had its own full bath, toiletries and TV; the kitchen was amply stocked with dishes and utensils and special items like an espresso machine and fondue pot; the laundry room was supplied with detergent and fabric softener; all paper products were generously furnished; and the downstairs pool and "spa" were totally available to us for the full week! Grocery shopping in town was a real treat--a great variety of foods, at very reasonable prices! We've had family reunions before, but this was the first one where all three generations were in agreement that this place was the best, and everyone was equally delighted to have something special to do: the indoor pool, sauna, exercise room, toys for the preschoolers in the lower level, unlimited paths for hiking around the area, kitchen equipment to cook great meals, day trips to great places like Neuschwanstein, or just resting on the balcony to savor the views and fresh air. Cows with their soft cowbells grazing on the meadows below us made us feel like we were in an alpine paradise, similar to the Sound of Music movie! The clouds were constantly changing and giving us new patterns, and although it rained about every day, the rain frequently ended with sunny skies. Guenther and Heike were exceptional hosts, and provided us with welcome bottles of prosecco, soft drinks, and chocolate upon our arrival. Heike had fresh flowers to greet us in the kitchen and living room. And for our reception dinner, we couldn't have been happier! They organized everything, working with a local caterer and getting tables and chairs all set up; Guenther recommended local hotels for our guests to stay at, and even suggested or recommended things we hadn't thought of. Heike generously made us a special strudel to serve all 40 of our guests, in addition to arranging for our granddaughters to get a free hour of horseback riding with her horses in town!! From my first inquiry, Guenther was prompt and thorough in answering all my questions, and after several months of corresponding and planning things, we felt like Guenther and Heike had become part of our family! During our stay, they were always available for answering questions and minor problems. Everyone in our family would love to come back here again; it really was the ideal vacation and celebration for us, and provided us with many fond memories that we will cherish for years to come! Thank you so much, Guenther & Heike, for providing such a marvelous place and showing us true Austrian Gemuetlichkeit!

Response from the owner Helga, thank you very much! It was great having you here.

“Outstanding Luxury holiday Base”

Reviewed 3 Mar 2012

Well, where do I begin we spent an unforgettable week in Dafins twice!?! This Villa is absolutely fantastic and we all had an amazing holiday! The Villa offer top standards of luxury, spacious, clean and in immaculate order and has everything you could want or need. The views from the Villa are absolutely stunning and in regards to the location up to the mountain it is perfect, and the breathtaking View is out of this world, the Villa has an underground spa with indoor pool (with waves and cool/warm water) and Jacuzzi which is awesome. The actual Villa is in a very peaceful and quiet area but the main center is literally a 5 minute drive away so everything is very accessible. Lots of restaurants, shops - really great fun! Car is a must as Dafins is in the middle of most attractive cities e.g. Munich, Zurich, and Milan. Most journeys to the Villa won't take more than 2-4 hours' drive from those major cities. Now the one person who truly is fantastic is Dr. Frick and his lovely family - I can honestly say he is one of the friendliest, helpful and hospitable person we have ever met. He will organize whatever you want there, even the BD fireworks. Dr. Frick gave us lots of information in regards to nearby attractions; he even took as on a private tour to discover the area and was brilliant in every way! Would recommend this Villa to anyone and definitely will be visiting again and again as it becomes major stop for us on each visit to austria. Great thing about this Villa is that you will never need to leave. And careful for sure you'll get addicted to it :)

“Amazing Facilities and Best Hospitality”

Reviewed 25 Feb 2012

When i picked the first villa which i stayed in during the summer 2010, it was based on the pictures i saw online and i thought the villa would not be as good as the pic but maybe close. The villa (golden deer) was actually far much better in reality, my family and i loved it. Then we visited the facilities again in 2011 for a whole month and we went for the 1 storey villa with the garden in front. it was also amazing and we could not have asked for a better deal for the luxury and hospitality we received by Dr. Frick and his lovely family. This place is the best hidden secret of austria, if you are looking for a base in central europe and you dont mind driving to other places, then go for it. Your family will be safe, the kids can walk to the forest and the little river nearby, or take the bus to go down to the little town. I would go back to see Dr. Frick and his family once again, it is their personalities that made dafins a much warmer place

“Panoramic Tranquility”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2012

After a hectic European tour with my son we decided to treat ourselves to some R&R; in Dafins, Austria. It was heavenly. The panoramic view from our apartment balcony, replete with evening sunset was magical. The utter peace and tranquility of the location, listening to cowbells in the distance was so charming and calming. The home had everything required, furnished elegantly, squeaky clean upon arrival, comfortable beds with down comforters, ensuite bathrooms to all bedrooms, and plenty of space to entertain. We even had a dinner party with some friendly locals we met. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and even food staples. The apartment was very spacious which we really enjoyed after being in some very small hotel rooms elsewhere on our trip. We particularly enjoyed the pool, hot tub and sauna, which could be booked privately if desired. The owners were very hospitable, yet discreet, helping with everything from car rental, restaurant selection, to local sight seeing excursions. I really appreciated the layout of all the apartments as it afforded a high level of privacy, as well as the convenience of an elevator and covered parking. The little towns in the area had plenty of restaurants, shops, and charming strolling opportunities. It is a location not generally considered on the European road most travelled but I sure am glad we found it. It had all the charm and hospitality found in the some of the more recognized vacation spots in austria or Switzerland but neither the crowds nor the price tag attached. While the apartment is expensive, the luxurious amenities, the resonable prices for restaurants and entertainment in the area rounded the cost factor out to a great choice. We enjoyed our experience thoroughly and would recommend it to anyone.

“Home away from home with a great view!”

It is hard to believe that it has been over a year since we stayed at this gorgeous villa in the austrian countryside. The house is absolutely fabulous. Every detail is taken care of. The furniture is modern and comfortable, the bathrooms up to date with all the modern conveniences. Guenther made sure we had a selection of wines and local beers available as well as some quick snacks. Guenther was also an excellent tour guide giving us tips on where to go and how to get there to take the best advantage of our visit. We really enjoyed the pool and spa facilities having it to ourselves on most occasions. My husband and I also enjoyed the privacy of havng our bedroom on the opposite side of the house from our friends.
