“A warm welcome in a beautiful setting”

Reviewed 6 Sep 2017

We were looking for a place that was right on the lake and we'd be able to self cater. We were hoping that this place would work well and it did. Located about halfway between Como and Bellagio right on the Lake of Como (Lago di Como) this was a great location. Our villetta was well equipped for 2 with both a balcony and a patio area. We were warmly welcomed by Jennifer and Eric who looked after us really well. The private jetty on the lake was perfect for swimming and the sunbathing area was also really nice. The development has a couple of Kayak's available for hire and Jennifer also arranged boat hire for us one afternoon. There are boats to Como and Bellagio a couple of times a day as well as a regular bus service although we'd also recommend car hire which meant we were easily able to get to Milan and one of the other lakes. The only thing we'd warn about is that because the development is right on the lake it is a very steep slope from the road. The car park is about half way down and our car coped perfectly well with getting back up, and there is an outdoor lift from the car park to the lake level, which was out of order a couple of times while we were there but extremely useful (it was fine without it but just a bit steep) We were able to completely self cater although we did chose to eat out a couple of times. The village has a couple of restaurants and a small shop for top up. A lovely stay and we would come back, both for the beauty of Lake Como, the specific place and the warmth and kindness of our hosts.

Response from the manager Thank you very much for your very kind review. It was a pleasure to meet you . We look forward to your return. Ciao from Lake Como! Eric and Robin

“An outstanding location on Lake Como”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2016

This site is wonderfully situated right on Lake Como with a very attractive and useful lawn area, lounging platform (over the water) and jetty - all outstanding, particularly for children. The accommodation was clean and comfortable - a good size lounge with compact, well equipped kitchen, and a bedroom and bathroom accessed by a tight spiral staircase. The car park is down a very steep drive and the steps/lift from there can make for a challenging arrival and departure! The owner, Eric, is tremendously helpful and more than happy to assist with luggage, parking etcetera so that contact with him just prior to arrival is recommended. We had a great holiday, largely thanks to the help, information and friendship provided by Eric. All very much appreciated!

Response from the manager Thank you so very much for your thoughts and kind review. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay with us. We look forward to having you back again in the future. Ciao from Lake Como! Eric and Robin

“Quiet and peaceful stay at an enjoyable, friendly and comfortabl”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2013

We arrived to be met by the owner who settled us into the villetta, which was well appointed and comfortable with excellent views over the lake. Our stay was very enjoyable despite the weather which was not normal for that time of year. The staff were very friendly and helpful as was the owner who provides a very personal service. The local facilities in the village were a little limited but the alimentari provided fresh meat, vegetbles and salad together with bread and other provisions and there was a very good local restaurant providing home cooked food, both of which were a short walk away. A great location and one we will return to as 4 days in this resort wasnt enough to explore the area sufficiently. We met some lovely people who were staying there and enjoyed the odd glass of vino with them. Como is worth visit as are the local villages and towns around the lake. You dont need a car as there is a good local bus service but a car does offer more freedom so is recommended. A great stay - more Oro than argento!

“Superb”

We loved our stay at Lake Como Beach Resort in Pognano Lario on Lake Como. Eric, our host was fantastic. He couldn't do enough to help all his guests. We all (24 of us) had the best time in and around Como. Our apartments were well set up, the view was amazing. We had our own pontoon for swimming and boating. The sundeck was just terrific. The ferry went past our front door. We went to Como and Bellagio and all points in between. Local food and wine were also wonderful. Eric and his family and staff were great. So friendly and accommodating. It was the highlight of our 8 week trip. Thanks for everything. I would add photos but I am technicologically challenged.

“Terrific location to tour up and down Lake Como with gorgeous lake views”

The Villa Mare villetta's are located right on the water with beautiful views across the lake. Pognano Lario is a charming area, with local grocery, restaurant and bar within easy walking of the villetta. Weather was changeable during our stay so we were unable to enjoy the beach area, which would have added to the charm of the setting. Eric and Robin were so easy to communicate with before and during our stay, including assistance to the train station for our departure. We were delighted with our stay at Villa Mare!

“Secret Hideaway on Lake Como”

Reviewed 7 Oct 2013

This is the place to get away from it all. The Lake Como Beach Resort is a hidden gem tucked away in the town of Pognana Lario on Lake Como. The property is right on the lake. The lake view from the bedroom and living area of Villetta Mare is outstanding. We enjoyed shopping at the town's grocery store and using the villetta's kitchen to prepare our breakfasts and a few dinners. The resort's elevated beach and comfortable chaise lounges were perfect for reading and sunbathing, and having a glass of wine at sunset and watching the stars come out at night. The town is accessible by ferry, though the schedule is a bit limiting. We purchased a six-day ferry pass, and tough we didn't have a car, we were able to go everywhere on the lake we wanted to go - Varenna, Bellagio, Como, Villa Carlotta, etc. - with a little planning. The proprietor, Eric, is wonderful, and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. He offered many great suggestions about restaurants, alternate transportation, and fun things to do around the lake. We highly recommend the Lake Como Beach Resort!

My wife and I stayed for five glorious nites in June 2013. Awesome views, clean and well appointed unit, short walk to the Lake Como ferry stop. Great local restaurant just up the street recommended by the owner. We went twice. Also took advantage of the onsite grills and cooked in twice. There is a great local market on the main road. We will definitely return!

“I wouldn't hesitate recommending Lcbr to anyone travelling to La”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2013

I recently spent 10 nights in Lake Como, staying at the Lake Como Beach Resort. The resort was in a beautiful, quiet location, and a short pleasant ferry or bus ride to towns such as Bellagio. I found it a great location to base myself. There is a shop up on the main road that has pretty much anything you could want (and amazing lasagne!). The resort itself is lovely, with beautiful views and and all the creature comforts you would want. On a personal level, travelling alone, I found the staff there very helpful (even with a language barrier!) and the american owner Eric made me feel right at home, even personally driving me to the train station at the end of my stay, and helping me find the right train platform! I would highly recommend Lcbr if you are looking for a comfortable, affordable, quiet location to explore Lake Como, and of course the gorgeous views!! Hayley South australia
