“Disappointed”

Reviewed 11 Aug 2017

The property is well proportioned and built with quality and careful thought by the owners. The bathrooms are excellent and now have pump soap which you would expect at these weekly rates. The welcome pack and first meal is adequate. The kitchen for many people will lack some essentials like a quality coffee maker or cafetiere, and a decent toaster. There is also too much clutter in the kitchen with pots and pans in bottom drawers that are old and stained and frankly no one would ever wish to use them. The view, whilst impressive, is not especially attractive as most of it's semi-industrial, the other side of the valley is the real gem. The village is pretty and interesting and has some good restaurants. Arriving late on a Saturday presents some issues in that one cannot drive into the village to get supplies over the weekend and its a 20min hike, each way, on foot. Also shops are not always open when they say they are. We were told by the key holder that the supermarkets, of which there are 2 close by, were closed on Sundays, that's not the case but they do close at 1pm. Irritating not to know that on the Saturday. Cleaning was always over lunch time (1-3pm) and never the 2 hours as advised and paid for. This is galling when €200 is required on the final day for cleaning; we disputed this and the owner agreed not to charge us. Discussions with the Agent about issues at the end of the week were met with aggression and accusations about how we managed the property (we had two horrendous storms one in the early hours and another when we were out for the day and some outside furniture got wet and/or broken - apparently this was our fault!) This marred our last couple of days. To sum up, its a lovely villa but poorly managed. I would recommend it but not through Hidden Italy.

“Architectural Gem with Asolo's Best View from the Patio”

Reviewed 7 Jun 2013

Bride's family stayed here for a destination wedding in Asolo. Pros: The view from the Master BR and the patio is unparalled in Asolo. The house sits on top of a hill which looks across to La Rocca, the remnants of an old castle that crowns Asolo. You've got a king's view of the surrounding plain below. Should you want to walk in, town is a steep 20 minutes climb downhill. Architecturally, the house is a gem. Careful renovation of an old farmhouse with amazing stone and plaster work. I kept taking pictures to show my contractor. Lovely little pool and a wonderful patio with the most beautiful roses for entertaining. Unfortunately it rained throughout our stay or we could have held the wedding reception there. The welcome dinner was a wonderful example of Italian home cooking, we asked for it again on our last night. Cons: The house would be impossible to find unless you were familiar with the area. Highly recommend getting the driver to pick you up as you would get lost otherwise. The house also came with no toiletries: no soap, shampoo, just toilet paper and that wasn't even restocked mid-week. Suggestion: For this price range, toiletries should be provided. Linens and towels could use an upgrade. We also did not get fresh towels or linens midweek as we were supposed to.

Response from the manager Dear Mrs. Deguzman, Many thanks for your guest review for CASA ASOLO. You are right, the house is very difficult to find. And indeed this is the reason why we indicate a meeting point in Asolo town for the first arrival, as stated in your travel documents. We want to avoid problems upon arrival because of its location: Therefore, the keyholder meets the guests in a Cappuccino bar in town and accompanies the guests to the house. You have mentioned that you have not received fresh towels midweek. Why did you not contact us during your stay? We would have took care of this right away. Since we were surprised to read this now, we have asked explanation from the owner in this regard. The villa owner confirms us that the mid week towel change has been done as promised, moreover (since the guests were leaving daily towels on the floor in the bathrooms as it was a hotel) she had arranged for several fresh towels during the week coming from a laundry (free of charge for you). Therefore, we don`t understand why you have written that there were no fresh towels. Also the owner is very surprised to hear this. However, we are glad that you enjoyed your stay, that you liked the house and the location, and that you felt comfortable. We remain with best regards and wish you and your family a beautiful summer, Bettina Roehrig Hidden Italy

“Beautiful Villa but Lacking Attention to Detail”

Reviewed 3 Jun 2012

There is no doubt this villa is majestic. The views, the decor, the fittings are picture perfect and the photos on this site represent how wonderful this property is. Unfortunately however there is a lack of attention to detail which was disappointing to me. The handling from the agency was clumsy from beginning. Our passport details and meeting arrangements which we had so meticulously sent through we're not passed on to the keyholder which meant the meeting time was missed etc etc resulting in unnecessary delays after a very long flight and drive. Completely incompetent on the agency behalf. In the villa toilet paper was never topped up, the paper towel roll on the holder in the kitchen was empty on arrival and stayed that way, no cling film, no tissues, no table cloths, serviettes, inadequate coffee maker, low quality matresses, sheets and pillows, no shampoo, no shower/bath soap, no dishwasher powder, one candle but multitudinal holders with burnt out tea light candles ... the list goes on and we were the first people to occupy the villa this season! Housekeeping was of a pretty low standard during our stay, the electricity was charged separately but outside lights remained on all night and were on automatic settings we could not control - we had to pay an additional amount on the electricity at the end of the week even though we did not use pool heating, indoor heating or air con, only the dishwasher and washing machine (we didnt use the clothes dryer). The information book advised of a towel change mid week which didn't take place but if we were to take additional towel changes they were to be charged independantly and steeply, so with the extra charges I felt like this was a one way street where we were charged willy nilly without the service that was stated and certainly without the finesse a place at the €4000 per week price point should offer. On departure housekeeping thought the pool towels were missing when in fact they were in their rightful basket and we didn't appreciate the inference we had put them in our suitcases or whatever. Of course this is a beautiful property and we had a hedonistic week - that is without doubt but as for the details - well they need attention.

Not only is this house located within easy walking distance to the jewel-box town of asolo, this home has everything needed to enjoy a vacation and yet feel like you are home. It has a wonderful italian esthetic and a terrific view of the castle, moon and stars.

Response from the manager Dear Mrs. Bachman, Thank you so much for your very kind message! With best wishes and Happy Christmas, Yours Bettina Röhrig HIDDEN ITALY

“Elegant and comfortable home with sweeping views”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2011

The home is warm and inviting, and the grounds are beautiful. Everything was immaculate. Luigina is a wonderful cook, excellent housekeeper, and a lovely lady. We also enjoyed the meals provided at "home" by Piero, an executive chef at a nearby upscale restaurant. Be sure to rent the smallest car possible, as the villa is up a long, extremely narrow, winding hill. It was very difficult to navigate around the construction trucks on the hill, but a small car can manage.
