“Villa la Ruga is Heaven on Earth”

I can go on and on about how much we loved this house, it was pure perfection. The house itself is extremely spacious, but full of charm. (Pictures do NO justice to how incredible this villa is) The outside area is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. We had a group of 7 people stay here with PLENTY of room for all of us. It's comfortable, quiet and blissful. Our only wish is that we had stayed longer. The owner, Francesco, handled every detail from a private van to and from the train station, recommendations for activities and helped with reservations for dinner and a boat. He had printed lists on how to work things around the house and menus for local restaurants. We are already planning a trip to come back. It is the perfect home for family vacations or a romantic getaway.

Superb property. The outdoor area is even more beautiful than the picture. We had four couples staying at the property which worked fine for us. If everyone wants their own bathroom then go with three couples. The inside had lots of room, enough to accommodate 8 of us without an issue. I can't say enough about Francesco (the owner). He was easy to get a hold of and he responded to all of my inquiries quickly. He was able to get us drivers from where we were staying in Lugano to the house and then to the train station in Como with no problems. I would highly recommend this property. You won't regret your decision.

“Cheshire Cat”

I booked the villa many months ahead of our visit but from the outset Francesco was in communication to ensure he was able to assist with our requirements. Just as helpful when we actually arrived and a host who truly understands the benefits of superlative customer service and going the extra mile. Beautiful fruits and cereals and Prosecco left for us on our arrival. However, I have called this review Cheshire Cat because when we walked through the front door of the Villa and saw the view through the windows, we could not wipe the smile off our faces. It is one of the most stunning locations I have stayed at and I will definitely return with my family. Easy walk into the town for restaurants but just as enjoyable to cook at home and soak in the views. Truly wonderful.

Location location! Words cannot describe the beauty of this Villa. A more accommodating host you will never find. Sitting on that terrace overhanging the lake watching the boats pass into the sunset is Magic. We were 6 adults and there was more than enough space for everyone to do their own thing. Very close to all transport but I will definitely recommend having a car to get provisions if you are doing self catering for many people.

“Amazing Villa La Rugs”

This was our second time in 2 years staying at Villa La Ruga. It was the same as our last visit - totally perfect!! Francesco, the owner, is charming and amazingly helpful - booking restaurants, organizing wakeboarding, nothing is too much trouble. The Villa is stunning and being able to dive into the lake literally from the garden is fantastic. Even better this year, the Villa has it's own boat which we rented and used to tour around the lake - we hardly used our car at all!! If you want to go to Lake Como, and you haven't booked Villa La Ruga, you should do that right now.

Awake each morning to the sunrise from your bed, personal balcony or the terrace with a juice or coffee. Glorious. Just what was needed to rejuvinate. Francesco is wonderful and the short walk to Argegno to eat or catch the ferry is great

We have spent 4 great days in this beautiful villa and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to this region. The list of good reasons to come here is long, some of the many highlights are: 1) Location and the views: simply amazing! One can't get enough of looking at the beautiful lake Como. You can watch the fish swim from the garden terrace. 2) The garden: lots of space to lounge and play, boccia court that can be lit at night, many well taken care of plants and trees that make this place uniquely charming. 3) The host: Francesco is extremely pleasant, friendly, punctual and ready to help with whatever we asked for. A really charming Italian who knows the area very well and will give you honest and precise information about places, restaurants and things to do and see. 4) Boathouse and the boat: don't miss the chance to see the lake Como by boat, it is the best way to see places and get around. Bellagio, Varenna, Temezzo, Isola Comacina, Villa Balbianello and many other great places to see and visit are all within an easy reach by boat directly from the house. The house is spacious and well appointed. With 5 adults and two children, we all had plenty of space and privacy. Only one thing is difficult in the Villa la Ruga: do you stay at home to eat or do you go to one of the many praised restaurants in the area. At home (either the kitchen or the barbecue in the garden will do), it will be hard to find a location that will match the charm of the al fresco dinning in the villa overlooking the lake. If you are up for eating out, head out to the restaurant Crotto dei Platani close to the house, it’s great. For any further ideas and up-to-date advice on restaurants, ask Francesco, you can rely on his recommendations.

“Beautiful Villa and Views!”

This is an idyllic spot on Lake Como! Close enough to walk to Argegno and easily accessible to other towns; yet a very private setting. The views of Lake Como are beautiful with lots of outdoor space to enjoy. Our family had a wonderful time!

“A villa at the gates of heaven”

Never have I ever been so privileged to see such stunning sunrises every day from the comfort of a bed. Villa La Ruga is honestly the most breathtaking villa I have ever been to in my 10 years of travelling. No two sunrises are the same, the sky, mountains and their beauty mirrored by the lake will steal your heart every day. It is the jewel of Lake Como and there is nowhere like it in the world. The Villa was my wedding reception venue of choice, we ate dinner on the terrace at sunset and got to watch the milky white full moon rise and illuminate the lake. It sparkled like nothing I've ever seen before, as it's gentle waves kissed the edges of the villa. We were serenaded by majestic fireworks and danced the night away until the candles burnt all of their wicks. Villa La Ruga, will steal your heart, enchant your spirit and dance with your soul. It is a place that you will forever leave you longing to return, to witness the birth of each new Dawn with every season. Owned by the handsome Francesco, you will adore him and his love for this villa, as much as the villa itself. Go, you will not be disappointed.

“Magical from start to finish”

There are no words for how we felt upon walking into Villa La Ruga. But it started even before that. For months I asked questions of Francesco and with kindness and patience he answered every one. When he greeted us at the ferry dock I felt like I was meeting a friend. He generously supplied us with fabulous breakfast foods and goodies and walked us thru each room of the villa. It's was mind blowing. The view was breath taking. We enjoyed the home, the boat, the bocce, our chef Graziano that Francesco arranged for us. It was all in this surreal atmosphere. The beauty of Villa La Ruga and Lake Como made for the most fabulous vacation we have taken. I would do anything to be sitting out on the patio with my family and friends and enjoying a glass of prosecco watching what we called "The Show". The view from the house changes as the lighting of the day changes and it was mesmerizing. We enjoyed every evening's show and each one was different. Do yourself a favor--- book your vacation at Villa La Ruga. You will never regret it It was amazing.
