I have just returned from a 7 night stay at the Dreamers' House, and all I can say is that I wish I was still there now!
We arrived into Linate airport and picked up our hire car (I would definitely recommend hiring a car, there are no supermarkets in walking distance). The drive to Menaggio to pick up the car keys was around 100 minutes, and picking the keys up was very easy (although busy on the roads around it, so difficult to find a parking space). We then drove on to the house and arrived there at around 5pm. The key was a bit tricky in the lock, but once in there was an instant 'wow' factor. The house is absolutely perfect. There are many terraces to choose from to look out over the lake and at the mountains. There are two showers, two toilets (plus one in the mini-casa, but we didn't use this part of the house), so with there being four of us staying at the house for a few days, there was plenty of room for everyone. The living areas were spacious and comfortable, and the kitchen very well equipped (including lots of very nice wine glasses - very important!). Everything was spotless as well. It is true that there is no air conditioning, however there are plenty of fans in the house to keep you cool at night. The weather was very hot while we were there, but luckily there is a breeze that seems to come off the lake. It was lovely to sit and watch an amazing storm on our last day from the comfort and safety of our balcony.
The house itself is situated in a very good place. The lakeside path runs along to two villages, one on each side. We definitely recommend you try La Baia restaurant, which was just fantastic, we could not fault it. We also tried Hotel Lumin Pizzeria in San Vito, plus Veranda Cafe and the pizzeria on the front in Pianello del Lario, all of which are worth a visit. We were very pleased to discover that there is a bar right between La Baia and Lumin, called Zeus Bar, that did lovely drinks in a lovely setting, as well as delicious panini at lunchtime, do stop here for a pre or post dinner drink or a spot of light lunch.
In summary, I would recommend the Dreamers' House to everyone. It was such value for money, the views are unrivalled, and Corina and Tim were such amazing hosts who were happy to help with any queries I had prior to the trip (no matter how many times I emailed!) and I am starting right this second to save up to visit again. Wonderful.
